Most brides spend a long time choosing that special wedding dress.  They swoon over the sweep, the color, the fabric and the style.  But do they spend enough time on choosing which veil is right for them.

Your veil, just like your jewelry, should be chosen with care and there are a number of factors that you should take into account when doing so:

  • If you have really short hair or have chosen a dress with simple lines, avoid a veil.  It will swamp your look and everyone will notice it rather than you. There are plenty of other ways to accessorize your dress.
  • Pick a veil on the basis of how it will look with your wedding dress, not how it will look with your intended hairstyle.
  • Think about how your veil will cope if you are getting married or holding your reception outdoors.  A windy day will make a long veil hard to control, especially for photographs.
  • Shorter veils suit dresses that have a lot of embellishment at bust or waist detail because they don’t interfere with the design.
  • Longer veils are best worn with full skirt gowns.  If you’re not having a train but want the same kind of elegant flow, consider a simple full length veil.
